Workplace Injury – The Workers’ Compensation Claim & Treatment Process

Injured Worker Process Summary

  1. Immediately notify your Supervisor or Human Resource department if an injury occurs. If needed, this individual will guide you to the appropriate medical care facility in your community and provide you with an AdvoCare Identification (ID) Card.
  2. Seek first aid or medical care from a BWC Certified Provider. A full directory of providers is available from the Bureau of Workers' Compensation.  Be sure to show your AdvoCare ID Card.
  3. AdvoCare is your Workers’ Compensation Managed Care Organization (MCO).
  4. AdvoCare must be notified of your injury by you, your Supervisor or the Human Resource department within 24 hours at 1-800-659-4025. Ask for First Report of Injury Department (FROI).
  5. You may be required to complete an incident report, if that is your company policy, and to provide a description of how your injury occurred.
  6. If additional or ongoing medical services are recommended after your initial treatment, AdvoCare should be notified. Be sure to show your AdvoCare ID card to every doctor or medical provider that treats you.

A Nurse Case Manager will assist you with the coordination of these services and ultimately, a safe and timely return-to-work.
