Workplace Injury – The Workers’ Compensation Claim & Treatment Process
Employer Process
- Injured workers need to immediately notify their Supervisor or Human Resource department if an injury occurs. This individual may need to serve as a guide to the appropriate medical care facility in your community and provide an AdvoCare Identification (ID) Card.
- Injured workers should be advised to seek first aid or medical care from a BWC Certified Provider and be sure to show their AdvoCare ID Card. A full directory of providers is available from the Bureau of Workers' Compensation.
- AdvoCare must be notified of any injury by the injured worker, his or her Supervisor or the Human Resource department within 24 hours at 1-800-659-4025. Ask for First Report of Injury Department (FROI).
- Injured workers may be required to complete an incident report, if that is company policy, and to provide a description of how the injury occurred.
- If additional or ongoing medical services are recommended after initial treatment, AdvoCare should be notified. Be sure to have any injured worker show an AdvoCare ID card to every doctor or medical provider that provides treatment.
- A Nurse Case Manager will assist with the coordination of these services and ultimately, a safe and timely return-to-work.
